Cllrs Dean Cohen and Peter Zinkin are pleased to announce the belated removal of the parklets on Golders Green Road has started. These installations have caused significant issues, including the loss of valuable parking spaces, which negatively impacted local businesses. Additionally, the parklets attracted anti-social behaviour and litter, despite being installed against the advice of community safety experts.
Councillor Alan Schneiderman, the responsible cabinet member, repeatedly failed to arrange for the removal of these parklets despite numerous petitions, questions at council and cabinet meetings, inquiries during overview and scrutiny sessions, and multiple investigations by officers. The parklets saw extremely limited use by residents, further questioning their necessity.
Cllrs Cohen and Zinkin have been steadfast in their efforts, working closely with residents to achieve the removal of the parklets. In contrast, local Labour councillors have made no efforts to address these concerns and have failed to represent the interests of the residents effectively and are now being forced to listen to residents who have been complaining for years about the effect of these parklets. The Labour Administration has shown a disregard for the needs and voices of the Golders Green community. Residents are urged to remember this negligence and lack of responsiveness at the next local election.
Labour doesn’t listen, Labour is bad for Barnet.
