Chaired by Christina Mclellan with speaker Cllr Richard Cornelius
Health and social care services are facing two major population challenges: an ageing population and a rising life expectancy that is not matched by an improvement in healthy life expectancy. There’s no doubt about it, adult social care is a huge challenge for the public sector right now. With an ageing population and rising life expectancy inevitably will mean a greater demand for care services. Every year you spend more than £14 billion on adult social care. It’s one of the biggest cost pressures facing councils. The last Spending Review put in place up to £3.5 billion of additional funding for adult social care by 2019 to 2020.
· How, as a society, we should fund and provide 21st-century adult social care and better alignment of health and care for an ageing population.?
· Do you have a view on Adult Social Care? If so, then please do come along to what will, a very lively discussion.
